If you like sound to be in your face, rather than “ambient” than near field monitors are what you want. These highly praised speakers have their amplifiers built in (less clutter in the house) are wired by balanced inputs (no expensive cables needed) and produce wonderful almost touchable sound. To get the most out of them you however need a pre-amp with balanced outputs like the NAD S-100 or the Denon AV7100

It is an oldie by now, but that also means that it has come within the almost affordable range. Some audio-geeks claim it still unsurpassed in the below 1500 $ range. Qnap makes these kind of machines, we like the relatively modest 259 pro + for a home network. The remote replication options opens up nice opportunities for library sharing with trusted friends and family .

Onwaarschijnlijk prettig hotel, zeker voor als je wat langer in maastricht bent.

De kunst aan de muur is mooi (niet verwondelijk want de kamers ziten boven een galerie die leuke dingen doet) Alles wat telt is tip-top in orde, alles waar je geen zin in hebt is er niet. Het ontbijt is zeer uitgebreid en de kamers zijn fin genoeg om er een dag in te kunnen werken.

Almost impossible to imagine, but in 1967 the T2 was a herald of carsafety; Now it is a design icon: one of the examples of round, tight and cuddly. The T1 (also nice) was a more sloppy design, fits well with the baby boomers in their late-life crisis who are having them restored for small fortunes.
When you go out and search for a T2 of your own go for the 2 liters air-cooled engine (late 1980 series) good speed, the sweet beetle-sound, and ….indestructible

The 205 CTI (1.6) nicknamed “Jean-Paul” first saw the light in 1986 and was (and still is) one of the fastest cabriolet’s around.

Contrary to popular belief the 1.9 version that emerged in 1988 is not faster but just heavier. The 130pk 1.9 motor, that throws the GTI 1.9 around, never made it into the Cabriolet version) It was just environmental legislation that ruled out the beefed-up 1.6 engine. Also did the improved subframe and brakesystem of the 1989 GTI never make it onto the CTI.

Somehow through time the 3 series cabrio U9 managed to shake off  its “coke snorting real estate agent”  image . Truth is, it always was a beautyfull car to begin with, it was the just wrong people in the late eighties that drove around in them. It is simply a sexy car, best driven by yummy mummies.

Go for the 6 cilinder 320’s make sure to get the original “crown-cork” rims with it

Something that I have always wondered about and WAS on my list to make myself. A heating system that can heat your bathroom without having to heat the whole house ( in the morning I shower, get dressed and leave ) Daalderop (dutch) makes them now ! furthermore they have wrapped thehotwater reservoir around the heater, less heat is lost, less insolation is needed. Smart Design !
